Jonathan Yeo - Portraits
From 20 March 2016, visitors can experience the largest ever exhibition of work by British portrait artist Jonathan Yeo, entitled "Jonathan Yeo Portraits". The show, which is the first retrospective by a British artist at the museum, includes never before seen paintings of Cara Delevingne, as well as noted works from throughout his career spanning 25 years. A brand new painting by former Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt will also be on display. When the Yeo exhibition later closes, the portrait of Helle Thorning-Schmidt will be included in museum's official collection of former Danish prime ministers.
The British artist Jonathan Yeo is known for his many portraits of famous politicians, artists, and actors. At the exhibition his famous portraits of the Pakistani activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, the former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, actor Kevin Spacey in the role of Richard III and many others will be on display.The exhibition is an encounter with a world class portraitist - an artist who has learned from the classics, but has found his own ways and has contributed to revitalize the portrait genre and the figurative art in the 21st century.
The exhibition is open from March 20 until June 30.
